Call for entries: TechRadar strengthens commitment to sustainability with launch of new awards

At Future’s leading global technology brand TechRadar, our dedicated team of experts live and breathe all things technology. But technology, from production through to consumer use and eventual disposal is a key producer of waste across the globe.

That’s why sustainability has become a key focus for TechRadar, with an increasing amount of coverage highlighting the companies who are driving positive change and building much-needed environmentally conscious solutions.

This past April, TechRadar launched Sustainability Week, a week-long series focused on telling stories across the tech industry that celebrate, challenge and highlight all things sustainability, from going behind the scenes with companies championing sustainability to sharing tips on how to recycle your tech.

Now, the brand is readying for its next phase in its focus on highlighting the people and companies at the forefront of sustainable tech.

COMING NEXT

For the first time this year, in partnership with the environmental impact experts at Seismic, the TechRadar Choice Awards 2024 will add five Sustainability Heroes awards honoring progress to a more sustainable tech landscape.

And next year, we’re excited to continue our work with Seismic with the launch of the first annual TechRadar Sustainability Awards! Convening a jury of industry-leading sustainability strategists, Net Zero advisors, reporting specialists, B Corp experts and communications consultants, these new awards will celebrate the innovative work happening across a range of disciplines and categories, including energy consumption, e-waste, supply chain sustainability and more.

The five winners from this year’s Sustainability Heroes awards will be pre-qualified for the TechRadar Sustainability Awards in 2025.

Entrants will be evaluated not only for sustainable product innovation, but also their approach to people and overall business operations, including areas of sustainability education and consumer behavior to circularity in product design and supply chain ethics.

“We want to both facilitate and encourage sustainable practices in consumer tech, and one of the best ways we think we can do that is by celebrating the wins, even if they are smaller,” said Josephine Watson, Managing Editor, Lifestyle at TechRadar. “Combining our tech expertise with sustainability experts at Seismic means we can take a balanced and informed approach that focuses on meaningful impact and not greenwashing.”

HOW TO ENTER

Submissions for this year’s Sustainability Heroes Award at the TechRadar Choice Awards 2024 are now open here through August 15. There are eight categories to choose from, and you can nominate yourself for up to three categories.
